My name is Matthew Brown and welcome to my Chess Tutoring page.
My Chess tutoring is exceptional having played Chess for over 30 years, I have great experience in helping my pupils to understand the game much better. In fact, I also drew with a grandmaster in 2015 and won the Handicap Tournament at my local Chess club the same year. My Honours Degree is in French and Maths with Spanish too from Queen Mary University of London (2001) and I tutor pupils from many good schools too, including UCS and Francis Holland.
My main goal in the lessons is to explain the very basics, what the objective of a Chess game is and how to try and get there. I also analyse my students' games and teach them how to write their moves down eventually, which will also enable them to show me games they have played with their friends or family.
I also teach the basic moves, special moves, checkmates, tactics and basic endgames. I firmly believe this approach has great success.
I live in Mill Hill and tutor mainly in or near North West London, Central London and South London. I can travel to parts of Hertfordshire too. Typical areas are Hampstead, ST John's Wood, Camden, Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea.
My Chess tutoring fees are from £40 per hour. For 3 lessons booked in advance, I will charge from £30 per hour.
My Enhanced DBS check from the 18th May 2020 is completely clear.

There should be at least one adult in the house where I tutor and coach.
My profile can be found with tutoring agencies too, but this route is cheaper.
